Holdredge, Nebraska High School Girls State Tennis Tournament

Earlier this summer I had the pleasure to travel to Lincoln, Nebraska to attend a high school girls state tennis tournament, where my niece, Annie, and her doubles partner were playing in the two-day tournament for the Holdredge Dusters.  On a chilly Friday, we got to the courts around 9 am to watch the first of her three matches.  As they won their first two matches, the day warmed up.  Our other niece, Bronwyn, brought her golden retriever puppy to the game, so we got to play with Daisy in between the matches, making for a lovely Spring day.  The last game of the day was tough against Kearney’s Skutt as they were favored to win.  Going in as the under dogs, the girls pulled off a victory, advancing to the finals.  Saturday, unfortunately, did not hold the same excitement and wins.  Sadly the Dusters lost their last two matches, ending their high school careers, as they were both seniors.  The emotional day was ended with hugs from loved ones and trophies.   The spirit of sportsmanship was felt throughout the courts that weekend.

So sweet of you to post this on your blog this week, Amy, as Annie headed off to Midland University (where she will be playing tennis of course). That was a fun couple of days and we are so happy you and Bart could be there. LOVE LOVE your awesome pics!!! So fun to see cute little Daisy…you wouldn’t recognize her now. I love looking at your galleries and all the different types of photography you excel at. Add sports photography to your list:)
